Holiness as a Witness to Other Nations
Holiness is a foundational concept in Scripture, representing not only moral purity and devotion to God but also a way for God’s people to testify to His glory before the world. It is both a personal calling and a collective mission. The Bible repeatedly shows that when God’s people live holy lives, they serve as a living witness to other nations, demonstrating God’s character, wisdom, and the transformative power of His ways.
1. Holiness Rooted in God’s Nature
Holiness originates in the nature of God Himself. Leviticus 11:44 declares:
“I am the Lord your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy.”
God’s holiness is perfect, morally pure, and completely distinct from sin. By calling His people to holiness, God invites them to reflect His character in their lives.
