Lord Jesus, when you lived and worked
\nand talked amongst the people, they called
\nyou Teacher. Help me to remember the
\ngreatness of the work which has been given
\nto me to do. Help me always to remember

Help me
\nalways to remember that I am making
\nmarks upon that mind which time will
\nnever rub out.
\nGive me patience with those who are
\nslow to learn, and even with those who
\nrefuse to learn. When I have to exercise
\ndiscipline, help me to do so with sternness
\nand yet with love. Keep me from the
\nsarcastic and the biting tongue, and help
\nme always to encourage and never to
\ndiscourage those who are doing their best,
\neven if that best is not very good.
\nHelp me to help these children, not
\nonly to store things in their memories, but
\nto be able to use their minds, and to think
\nfor themselves. And amidst the worries
\nand the irritations and the frustrations of
\nmy vocation, help me to remember that
\nthe future of the Church, the nation and of
\nthe world is in my hands. This I ask for
