This devotion originated in Jerusalem,
\nwhen pilgrims retraced the steps of the
\n“Via Dolorosa”, the distance from the
\nPraetorium, where Jesus was condemned,
\nto Calvary hill, where he was crucified. It
\nwas not until later on, however, that the
\nnumber of “stations” was fixed to four-
\nteen. All that is required in this practice is
\nto meditate on the Passion of Christ. What
\neach station is about does not actually
\nmatter. It helps, though, and the tradi
\ntional 14 stations have been very dear to
\nChristians.
\n1. Jesus is condemned to death.<\/strong>

\nMy adorable Jesus, it was not Pilate,
\nit was my sins that condemned you to die,
\nI beseech you by the merits of this sorrow
\nful journey, to assist my soul in its journey
\ntowards eternity.
\nI love you, my beloved Jesus; I love
\nyou more than myself. I repent with my
\nwhole heart for having offended you. Never
\npermit me to separate myself from you
\nagain. Grant that I may love you always;
\nand then do with me what you will.

\nMy most beloved Jesus, I embrace all
\nthe tribulations you have destined for me
\nuntil death. I beseech you, by the merits
\nof the pain you suffered in carrying your
\ncross, to give me the necessary help to
\ncarry mine with perfect patience and res-
\nignation.

\nof the cross, but my sins, which has made
\nyou suffer so much pain. Ah, by the mer-
\nits of this first fall, deliver me from the

\nMy most loving Jesus, by the sorrow
\nyou experienced in this meeting, grant
\nme the grace of a truly devoted love for
\nyour most holy Mother. And you, my
\nqueen, who was overwhelmed with sor-
\nrow, obtain for me, by your intercession, a
\ncontinual and tender remembrance of the
\nPassion of your son.

\n5. The Cyrenean helps Jesus to carry\u00a0<\/strong>
\nhis Cross.<\/strong>
