It<br \/>\nwas not until later on, however, that the<br \/>\nnumber of &#8220;stations&#8221; was fixed to four-<br \/>\nteen. All that is required in this practice is<br \/>\nto meditate on the Passion of Christ. What<br \/>\neach station is about does not actually<br \/>\nmatter. It helps, though, and the tradi<br \/>\ntional 14 stations have been very dear to<br \/>\nChristians.<br \/>\n<strong>1. I repent with my<br \/>\nwhole heart for having offended you. Never<br \/>\npermit me to separate myself from you<br \/>\nagain. Jesus is made to bear his Cross.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nMy most beloved Jesus, I embrace all<br \/>\nthe tribulations you have destined for me<br \/>\nuntil death. Jesus falls the first time.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nMy beloved Jesus, it is not the weight<br \/>\nof the cross, but my sins, which has made<br \/>\nyou suffer so much pain. Jesus meets his afflicted Mother.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nMy most loving Jesus, by the sorrow<br \/>\nyou experienced in this meeting, grant<br \/>\nme the grace of a truly devoted love for<br \/>\nyour most holy Mother. And you, my<br \/>\nqueen, who was overwhelmed with sor-<br \/>\nrow, obtain for me, by your intercession, a<br \/>\ncontinual and tender remembrance of the<br \/>\nPassion of your son.<br \/>\nOur Father, Hail Mary, Glory be.<br \/>\n<strong>5. You have died for love of me; I will<br \/>\ndie for love of you. Help me by your grace.<br \/>\nOur Father, Hail Mary, Glory be&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong>6. Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nMy most beloved Jesus, your face was<br \/>\nbeautiful before, but as you walked to<br \/>\nCalvary, it lost all its beauty, and wounds<br \/>\nand blood disfigured it. Alas! my soul also<br \/>\nwas once beautiful, when it received your<br \/>\ngrace in baptism; but I have disfigured it<br \/>\nby my sins. You alone, my Redeemer, can<br \/>\nrestore it to its former beauty. Do this, by<br \/>\nyour Passion, O Jesus.<br \/>\nOur Father, Hail Mary, Glory be&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong>7. Jesus speaks to the women of<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Jerusalem<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nMy Jesus, laden with sorrow, I weep<br \/>\nfor the offences I have committed against<br \/>\nyou, because of the pains they have de-<br \/>\nserved, and still more because of the dis-<br \/>\npleasure they have caused you, who has<br \/>\nloved me so much. It is your love, more<br \/>\nthan the fear of hell, which causes me to<br \/>\nweep for my sins.<br \/>\nOur Father, Hail Mary, Glory be&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong>9. Jesus is stripped of his garments.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nMy innocent Jesus, by the merits of<br \/>\nthe torment you felt, help me to strip my-<br \/>\nself of all affection to things of earth, in<br \/>\norder that I may place all my love in you,<br \/>\nwho are so worthy of my love.<br \/>\nOur Father, Hail Mary, Glory be.<br \/>\n<strong>11. Jesus is nailed to the Cross.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nMy Jesus, loaded with contempt, nail<br \/>\nmy heart to your feet, so that it may ever<br \/>\nremain there to love you, and never quit<br \/>\nyou again.<br \/>\nOur Father, Hail Mary, Glory be&#8230;<br \/>\n<strong>12. Jesus is taken down from the Cross.<\/strong><br \/>\nWe adore you, etc.<br \/>\nO Mother of sorrow, for the love of<br \/>\nyour Son, accept me for your servant, and<br \/>\npray for me.
