Spiritual Communion

This may be used during visits to the
Blessed Sacrament
My Jesus, I believe that you are present
in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above
everything, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive you sacra-
mentally, come at least spiritually into
my heart. As though you were already
come, I embrace you and unite myself
entirely to you; allow me not to be sepa-
rated from you. Jesus, my good, my sweet
and only love, inflame this heart of mine,
that it may be always on fire for you                                                                                                                                                      Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit of light and love, you are
the substantial love of the Father and the
Son; hear my prayer. Bounteous bestower
of most precious gifts, grant me a strong
and living faith, which makes me accept
all revealed truths and shape my conduct
in accord with them. Give me a most con-
fident hope in all divine promises which
prompts me to abandon myself unreserv-
edly to you and your guidance.
Infuse into me a love of perfect good-
will, that makes me accomplish God’s
will in all things and act according to God’s
least desires. Make me love not only my
friends but my enemies as well in imita-
tion of Jesus Christ who through you of-
fered himself on the Cross for all people.
Holy Spirit, animate, inspire, and guide
me, and help me to be always a true
follower of you.                                                                                                                                                                                          Prayer for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit, Sanctifier blest, deign to
grant us: the gift of fear which makes us                                                                                                                                              shun all sin; the gift of piety which makes
us respect and love the Three Divine Per-
sons, our parents and children, as is proper
for true children of God; the gift of knowl-
edge which makes us judge eternal and
temporal things as God judges them; the
gift of fortitude which makes us bear all
hardships for the love and greater glory of
God; the gift of counsel which makes us
be guided, and guide others, in the Way of
Truth, of Christlike Life; the gift of under-
standing which makes us penetrate deeply
into what you, Holy Spirit, have deigned
to reveal; the gift of wisdom which makes
us relish all that is right and is in line with
Eternal Wisdom. This we ask you to grant
us, Gift of God Most High, who live in
perfect unity of Love with the Father and
the Son.                                                                                                                                                                                                          Creator, Spirity
Creator, Spirit all divine,
Come visit every soul of thine,
And fill with thy celestial flame.
The hearts which thou thyself didst
frame.                                                                                                                                                                                                          O gift of God, thine is the sweet
And spring of life and fire of love
Consoling name of Paraclete-
And unction flowing from above.
The mystic sevenfold gifts are thine,
Finger of God’s right hand divine;
And Father’s promise sent to teach
The tongue a rich and heavenly speech.
Kindle with fire brought from above
Each sense, and fill our hearts with love,
And grant our flesh, so weak and frail
The strength of thine which cannot fail.
Drive far away our deadly foe,
And grant us thy true peace to know;
So we led by thy guidance still,
May safely pass through every ill.
To us, through thee, the grace be shown
To know the Father and the Son;
And Spirit of them both, may we
Forever rest our faith in thee.
To Sire and Son be praises meet,
And to the Holy Paraclete
And may Christ send us from above
That Holy Spirit’s gift of love. Amen.                                                                                                                                                    L: Send forth your spirit and all are made                                                                                                                                        new.
R: And you will renew the face of the
earth.
Let us pray
O God, who have taught the hearts of
the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant that in the same Spirit, we may
relish always what is right and ever rejoice
in his consolation. Through Christ our Lord.
R: Amen.
